This past weekend, I visited some old friends in Sonoma, and we had a great time. I’m excited to share my experiences with you.
The Sonoma Wineries We Visited
We started at Twomey, the Sonoma sister of Napa’s Silver Oak. For a long time, I’ve thought that Twomey was the better of the two. I still think that way. The wines were beautiful, and the setting was amazing.

We next visited Porter Creek Vineyards, which I’ve loved for a long time for their incredible Viognier. Guess what, their Viognier is still unbelievable. When we got back to our friends’ home, we did a blind tasting of two Viogniers. The Porter Creek one won.
On day 2, we started at Williamson Wines, who make “natural wines from sustainably farmed Napa and Sonoma vineyards.” An incredible treat at this winery is that they do a cheese pairing with each wine. What a treat. With the Chardonnay, they served a stilton with mango and ginger. YUM!

Next, we went to Selby Winery, where we had the privilege of meeting Susie Selby, the owner of the winery. She was delightful, as was our server Xavier. Selby’s wines were amazing. My friends Sandra and Doug joined their wine club. It turns out that their wine has been served at the white house under three administrations! The wine is quite wonderful.

Our last stop on day 2 was Breathless, a Sparkling Wine maker whose wine club I joined. Wow, wow, wow, were their sparklings great.

On our final day, we visited Pride Mountain Vineyards, which a friend had recommended that we try. We were not disappointed. Our leader Jay was chock full of great information, and the wines were fantastic. I bought a Cabernet and a Syrah. But I could have bought more.

The Restaurants We Visited
Wow, were we blessed with amazing meals, starting with Bravas Bar de Tapas, an incredibly yummy tapas restaurant.
Our next stop was Bijou where we enjoyed a delightful dinner. The highlight was their drink menu. Wow!

Then we went to Roof 106 at the Matheson, where I thoroughly enjoyed “Whole Burrata Cheese + Sourdough Flatbread, black truffle + porcini, candied hazelnuts, honey, chive.” Incredible!
Our next stop was Stella, where we thoroughly enjoyed a dish featuring mozzarella and stone fruit.
Our final stop was Poppy, the sister restaurant of the girl and the fig. Another incredible tasting experience.

I hope I’ve whet your appetite for visiting Sonoma!
