Celebrating a WINEderful 4th of July
Celebrating a WINEderful 4th of July

Here’s to a 4th of July celebration filled with family, friends, good cheer, good fireworks, good food and good wine! With two months of summer yet to come, there’s still plenty of time for enjoying refreshing summer wines. Today’s article is devoted to my favorite summer wines from WineShop At Home, the Napa winery that I represent:

4th of July Is White!

Gemme Gewurztraminer – Our Gemme Cellars 2016 Gewürztraminer is displaying a lot of floral fragrances of honeysuckle, hyacinth or daffodil. It has tropical characters such as pineapple, apricot, mango and lemon. There are also mild petroleum notes that are classic to this varietal. The attack is bright and crisp, and there is some minerality to the mouthfeel. This dry to off-dry white is round, fluid and pleasant throughout and in the finish. Your Price: $23.00

Glory Cellars Valor Blend – Our Glory Cellars Valor Blend was produced using 33% Chenin Blanc, 31% Muscat, 24% Riesling, 5% Symphony, 4% Muscat of Alexandria and 3% Colombard from different regions throughout California. This wine has a beautiful pale color with lovely floral aromas in the attack. Rose perfume, passion fruit, lemon and orange zest aromas complete the bouquet. The wines in this blend were fermented separately in stainless-steel tanks to keep their aromatic intensity. This is an off-dry, crisp wine with a dry and pleasant finish. The acidity carries the wine during several seconds in the mouth, which is a gauge for longevity and cellaring potential.

When you purchase this special wine, a $2 contribution will be made to America’s Mighty Warriors, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that honors our troops, the fallen and their families with programs that improve quality of life, resiliency and recovery. Your Price: $24.00

4th of July Is Red!

Fleur Bleu 2016 California Seven Petals Blend – Our Fleur Bleu Seven Petals is a blend 55% Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, Lodi and Mendocino, 15% Syrah, 10% Tannat, 10% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The nose is rich and deep with a combination of black cherry, black currant and blackberry. The second nose reveals some vanilla, toasted oak, tobacco and black pepper. A blend of American and French oak barrel ageing gives a boost to the mouth, providing an amplified attack. We have big chewy tannins in the attack followed by a long-lasting structure. There is a lot of length and strength provided by the tannins. A good amount of acidity will allow for an extended ageing potential. Your Price: $32.50

Harlow Court Private Reserve –Our Harlow Court Private Reserve is a blend of 39% Sangiovese, 23% Petite Sirah, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has an intense, dark garnet color. The nose has powerful aromas of red fruit such as cherry and blackberry. A second nose reveals more mature flavors coming forward, with black pepper, caramel, dry herbs, tobacco and toasted oak. Even with fresh fruit flavors in the very beginning, this wine becomes dense and robust in the mid-palate. Layers of tannins pave the way to an attractive and elegant finish. Your Price: $44.00

4th of July Is Blue?

If you don’t have good wine to enjoy on the 4th, you might be a little blue. But have no fear. You can place an order to make sure you have good wine for the rest of the summer. Click on one of the links above to get started, or call me at 650-714-7009.
