Two Wonderful Wine + Food Books

I have been blessed to find two wonderful wine + food books: Oregon Wine + Food and Washington Wine + Food. For the first one, I got to see the authors speak at Powell’s Books. I found the second one at a winery in Walla Walla.

About the Books

The most important sections of the two books are identical:

  • THE WINERIES
  • THE RECIPES

These are the only sections of the books that are capitalized.

Besides these sections, the books differ quite a lot. The Oregon book starts with an introduction followed by a fact sheet about Oregon wines followed by a timeline, featured grape-growing regions and grape varieties. The Washington book starts with a forward followed by an introduction. Both books have a metric conversion chart, acknowledgments, an index and a section about the authors.

The Oregon book was written by Danielle Centoni and Kerry Newberry. Danielle is a food, dring and travel writer and a cookbook author. Kerry is a food and lifestyle writer.

The Washington book was written by Julien Perry who is also a food and lifestyle writer.

Why I Love These Wine + Food Books

I love to keep track of which wineries I’ve visited. So, I go to the page in each book with the wineries, and I check the ones I’ve been to and I add the names of wineries I’ve been to that aren’t included in the book.

I also love recipes. Sadly, many of the recipes are above my pay grade 🙂 I tend to do recipes with fewer than 10 ingredients. Many of these recipes have far more ingredients and really complicated instructions. Nevertheless, I’ve picked out 20 or so recipes in each book that I intend to make.

If you have the opportunity to find these books, I’m sure you will enjoy them.
