I hope you had a great 4th of July! With summer now in full gear, I’d love to get you on my tasting calendar. Let’s explore why a summer wine tasting is so incredibly wonderful.
What Does a Summer Wine Tasting Look Like?
My wine tastings are a great excuse for bringing together friends, family and coworkers for a few hours of pure unadulterated fun. You bring the people. I bring the wine. Everybody has a great time.
Themed Tastings
In the summer, wine tastings are even more fun, because you can do all kinds of fun hot-weather-themed tastings. The picture above shows some of my favorite. Let me walk through why each is so great from a wine perspective:
- Grill and Chill: The best wines to go with grilled food are Syrah, Zinfandel and Sparkling. Those wines are hard to beat. And of course, we’ll add two more to the mix that will also work well.
- Picnic Sips: How great is this? The picnic could easily be in your backyard, but it could also be at a nearby park. And if you have traditional picnic fair, you might have burgers, potato salad, pasta salad and brownies. For burgers, I’d lean red, but I’d make sure to include a Grenache, which is a great fruit-forward dry red that is fun to chill a little. For the potato salad, I’d go with a Chardonnay or a Sauvignon Blanc. Pasta salad calls for a Sanigovese. For brownies, I’d go with a Cabernet or Merlot.
- Wine and Cheese Day: Well, that type of tasting would work year round. But hey, the holiday is on July 25, so you might as well plan a wine tasting for that day.
- National Junk Food Day: Okay, I can’t say that I’m a fan of junk food. But I know many people who are. And guess what. July 21 is National Junk Food Day. For a tasting like this, it’s really fun to line up your junk food and try to figure out which of our five wines goes best with which of the foods. This can be a really silly tasting. So get ready to have some fun.
Scheduling Your Tasting
If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area, I will happily lead a tasting at your home or office. If you’re outside of the San Francisco Bay Area, I will happily lead a tasting by way of Zoom. To schedule your tasting, please call or email me at 650-714-7009 or betty@winetastingsandmore.com. We will figure out the best date and time. I will need to get key information about you, including your birth date and your credit card information. Why do I need your credit card information? Because a wine tasting with me costs $39 plus tax. For this price, you get about $150 worth of wine. A very sweet deal. We’ll also talk about your wine preferences so that I can pick out the best sampler for your event. Once we set your tasting up, I’ll send you an email with information that we’ll come in handy as you’re getting ready for your great event.
Please contact me today, so we can schedule your tasting. Thanks.
Cheers!
