A few months ago, I wrote an article called “It’s Time for Oregon Sparkling Wine for the Holidays.” In the article, I highlighted Argyle Winery whose ROCO Brut took the very top spot on WineEnthusiast’s list of top 100 wines. Wow! This weekend, I visited Argyle Winery. What a treat!

About Argyle Winery
“Winemaking at Argyle is a collaborative journey rooted in the rich tradition of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Our founder, Rollin Soles, was drawn to this region in 1979 by its pioneering spirit and the sense of community among winemakers. Now led by winemaker Nate Klostermann and vineyard manager Erica Miller, Argyle focuses on innovation and precision. We craft each small lot to preserve the unique character of our estate fruit, creating wines that reflect the land and the people who cultivate it.
They are a Sparkling-first winery. But they also do a lot of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Meunier.
About Their Sparkling Wines
According to Champagne.fr, “All genuine Champagnes must spend at least 15 months maturing in the winemaker’s cellars before release. Vintage cuvées are matured for at least three years.”
Argyle keeps all of their Sparkling wines for three years but keeps a few of them for 10 or more years. We got to taste one of their well aged Sparklings, that they call Extended Tirage, and it was incredible.
They say that their “Extended Tirage Brut represents the pinnacle of our sparkling wine craftsmanship. Aged for over a decade on the yeast (“en tirage”), these wines develop incredible depth, richness, and complexity while maintaining the freshness Argyle is known for. Disgorged on demand, the Extended Tirage Brut offers a unique tasting experience with vibrant acidity and layers of toasty, nutty flavors that evolve beautifully over time. This wine showcases the aging potential and elegance of Argyle’s long-standing commitment to excellence in sparkling wine.”
