Using Glory Cellars Wines to Honor Fallen Military Personnel

I hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend filled with family, friends, good food and good wine. I hope you took a moment to think about the more than a million Americans who have lost their lives since 1775. In that spirit, I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about WineShop At Home’s Glory Cellars Wines, which is our non-profit arm that helps America’s Mighty Warriors.

What Are Glory Cellars Wines?

Our Glory Cellars wines are some of our best wines. Under this label, we offer a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Chardonnay and a red blend called Hero’s Blend. Our Hero’s Blend is a five-time award winner and a fan favorite.

According to our winemaker Alex, for Hero’s Blend, we sourced grapes from Spring Mountain and Carneros in the Napa Valley. Low yields of three to four tons per acre, meticulous sorting at harvest, extended maceration during fermentation and twenty months of ageing in French oak barrels complete the list of accomplishments for this magic recipe. This Bordeaux-style blend is radiant with fruit-forward aromas like blueberry, blackberry and cherry. The French oak is bursting in the finish, completing a mature nose with notes of cigar box and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is silky smooth and will develop even further with age. Merlot and Cabernet Franc were grown in the cooler terroir of Carneros, a key to the complexity of this wine. This wine is definitely worth trying.

Introducing Debbie and Marc Lee of America’s Mighty Warriors

Debbie Lee founded America’s Mighty Warriors in honor of her son Marc. Marc was the first Navy SEAL to be killed in Iraq on August 2, 2006.

In Marc’s last letter home, he asked for friends and family to “pass on the love and kindness and precious gift of human life.” The letter starts with these beautiful words; “Glory is something that some men chase and others find themselves stumbling upon, not expecting it to find them.  Either way it is a noble gesture that one finds bestowed upon them. My question is when does glory fade away and become a wrongful crusade, or an unjustified means by which consumes one completely?

“I have seen war. I have seen death, the sorrow that encompasses your entire being as a man breathes his last. I can only pray and hope that none of you will ever have to experience some of these things I have seen and felt here.”

America’s Mighty Warriors has been fighting to support our troops, the fallen and their families and to work with like-minded organizations to do the same.

How You Can Help

When you purchase Glory Cellars wines, you are making a donation to America’s Mighty Warriors. You can also make a one-time donation or monthly donation without buying wine.

We honor our fallen heroes for giving us the beautiful gift of freedom. America is free because of these brave men and women.
