This week, CA went into total lockdown. We’re only allowed to leave our homes to go to the grocery store, the post office or the doctor. Very sad, given that we’re in holiday season. But it’s what we need to do. The capacity in CA hospitals’ ICUs is dangerously low. The plan was that when the capacity went below 15%, we would go into lockdown. The lockdown is expected to last through Jan. 4. So, the big question is what can we do to have fun this holiday season.

Cook up a Feast for the Lockdown
Nothing says holidays like a fantastic meal. What are your favorites? Buy them or make them. I guarantee that having those special foods on hand will really help bring in the holiday spirit. My favorite is mac and cheese. So, I’m definitely going to find a few great recipes to try.
Drink to Your Heart’s Content
It’s time to get out your extra special wines. How about that $100 bottle that you’ve been laying down for the last five years? Or maybe the $25 wine you bought at a special winery. Or perhaps the last bottle of the five you bought that you really loved.
If you have fellow wine-loving friends, do a tasting on Zoom. You don’t have to be tasting the same wines. But perhaps you can start with sparkling and then go to whites and then to reds. Share your experiences, talk about the wine you’re trying, and laugh a lot.
Good wine and good laughter will definitely be important this holiday season.
And if you need any wine, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
Zoom like There’s No Tomorrow
Zoom with your local friends and family. Zoom with your distant friends and family. Zoom with a few people. Zoom with a bunch of people. Sing over Zoom. Eat over Zoom. Drink over Zoom. Tell stories over Zoom. Play games over Zoom. Wish each other happy holidays over Zoom. I think you get the point. Zooming can really help us feel like we’re celebrating the holidays.
Play Games
Check out Jackbox Games for some really fun games to play on Zoom. I guarantee you will find some that your gang really likes.
Send People Wonderful Wishes
Most importantly, remember that everybody is going through challenging times. Make sure to reach out to as many people as you can to let them know you’re thinking of them and how special they are in your life.
I hope I’ve provided you with a few good ideas for handling whatever level of lockdown you’re in. If you have some more ideas, please share them here.

Cheers and Happy Holidays!
