Pairing Halloween and Wine

Over the years, I’ve written a number of articles about combining wine with Halloween festivities. To see my articles, please type “Halloween” into the search window of Betty’s Wine Musings. This year, I wanted to share what others have written about pairing Halloween and wine.

Wine and Candy Pairings

Noah Kaufman (no relationship to me) wrote an article for YahooFood entitled “Which Wines Goes with Your Favorite Halloween Candy.” I love that Noah’s wine selections are all sweet. He followed an important guideline that the wine you pair with dessert needs to be sweeter than the dessert itself.

GreatIdeas likewise paired sweet wines with a bunch of popular Halloween desserts. The one I’d really like to try is Candy Corn with Concha y Toro Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc, Chile ($14).

Bustle’s wine/candy pairing infographic

Bustle was more adventurous with their recommendations, not sticking to sweet wines. I love their infographic, part of which I’m showing here!

Spooky Wines

Many wineries go to town creating spooky wine labels for Halloween.

thekitchn.com has a great article entitled “Spooky Wines to Spice up Your Adult Halloween Party.” Binny’s also has a good article on the subject, as does SFGate.

My Favorite

I hope you find many fun ways to pair Halloween and wine.

Cheers to a delicious, WINEderful, safe Halloween!
