Last week, I introduced the concept of flat wine bottles in my article Ready to Be Hip? Buy Flat Wine Bottles. This week, I want to introduce you to Packamama, the company that will be the supplier of these wonderful bottles to the United States.

A Review of the Benefits of Flat Wine Bottles
- They are 87% lighter than a glass bottle.
- The flat shape takes up 40% of the space traditional bottles do, so you can ship more wine into shipping containers.
- The flat-pack bottles are made from 100% recycled and recyclable PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic.
The Leader in Flat Wine Bottles
London-based Garçon Wines appears to be the leader in this space. On their website, they say, “When it comes to wine and sustainability, we’ve seen firsthand that too many companies just talk the talk. In this new chapter for Garçon Wines, our goal is to walk the walk by offering consumers wine brands that are sustainable as standard, without compromising on convenience.”
Introducing Packamama
Packamama positions themselves as the provider of packaging that protects Mother Earth. Isn’t that wonderful? They’ve done a lot of work in Europe and just launched in Australia.
Here’s how they describe themselves: “As self-proclaimed climate geeks, we’re huge fans of packaging because of the far-reaching and exciting opportunity it brings. Packaging done better can unlock a positive butterfly effect across a product’s supply chain. Simply put, the better, smarter, greener and more sustainable packaging is, the greater the impact it will have on the health of our planet and everything that lives on it.”
I’ve reached out to them to see if there might an opportunity for me to work with them. I would be in seventh heaven if such an opportunity came up.
