Happy New Year! Is it time for some New Year’s resolutions? I think so. But let’s make some New Year’s resolutions that are fun and easy to keep.

Fun New Year’s Resolutions
On the fun side, I immediately think about wine. One of my resolutions this year is to try wines I’ve never tried before. Last year, I was gifted with Red Wine: The Comprehensive Guide to the 50 Essential Varieties & Styles. In the book there are something like 20 wines I’ve never tasted. I’m going to set a goal of trying one of these new wines every month.
Another resolution is to enjoy wine with other people. I have a bunch of friends that I enjoy tasting wine with. So I will set a target to schedule a tasting with different friends each month.
A final wine resolution is to check out more wineries. It’s so much fun to get to know wineries. I have many that I already know and love – and want to visit. But there are so many more to discover. I’m excited to do that.
Easy New Year’s Resolutions
For easy resolutions, I’m going to steer clear of wine and talk about doing good things. I will focus on being kinder to people, on getting to know and appreciate where each person is coming from. I will start with happily saying hello to everybody I walk by. Some will ignore me, and some will be delighted. It’s all okay.
I will be very appreciative of worker bees, the person giving me my coffee at the coffee shop, the check-out person at the grocery store, the wonderful man who delivers my mail, the person who delivers my paper. The more joy and happiness I can bring into the world, the better.
I will try not to minimize my focus on negative things. They are there, and they are bad, but focusing on them will not help make the world a better place.
Just a tiny list of the New Year’s resolutions I will follow in 2023. If you have some good ones, I would love to hear them.
Happy New Year!
