Celebrating the 4th is all about surrounding yourself with great friends, family, fireworks, food and wine! With two months of summer yet to come, there’s still plenty of time for enjoying refreshing summer wines. As I do every year, today’s article is devoted to my favorite WineShop At Home summer wines.

Celebrating the 4th with White!

Dusk 2018 Lodi Roussanne – This wine is such a treat. Roussanne originates in the Rhone region of France and isn’t very well known in the U.S. Our Roussanne’s nose is very floral, with aromas of acacia and hyacinth. Later, notes of honey, apricot, caramel and walnuts linger in the mid-palate of this dry wine. The attack in the mouth is fluid and easy. Voluptuous and juicy aromas of orange and mandarin then come forward. Its fermentation in a stainless-steel tank emphasizes the minerality of this wine. Unlike most white wines, Roussanne can age very well due to its unusual combination of richness, minerality and balanced acidity. Your price: $25.00

Celebrating the 4th with Pink!

Sun Fish 2017 Central Coast Rosé of Grenache This wine that was produced by draining a Grenache tank of some of its must prior to a full maceration with the skins. This produces a pale rose color with a terracotta hue. This Rosé of Grenache has lovely fruit aromas such as Mandarin orange, apricot and peach. There is a light presence of oak with toasty vanilla characters in the finish. These flavors come forward in the mouth as well. The attack is off-dry and fruity with minerality in the palate and a citrusy mouthfeel. Your price: $25.50

Celebrating the 4th with Red!

Sun Fish 2017 Paso Robles Mola Mola Our Sun Fish 2017 Mola Mola is a sweet, intense red wine blend of 90% Malbec and 10% Cabernet Franc. The attack in the nose has a lot of dark red fruit characters such as cherry, blackberry and blueberry. Later, rich aromatics of prune, cinnamon, brown sugar, licorice and toasted oak appear in the nose. The robust structure is slightly tamed by the sweetness in the mouthfeel. There are a lot of tannins all the way through to the finish. This strong and fruity blend showcases great balance between all components of this red wine: acidity, tannins and sweetness. Your price: $25.50
